1. Service Purpose & Scope
TavernKeep is designed exclusively for tabletop role-playing game sessions and related fantasy storytelling. By creating an account, you agree to use this service solely for legitimate fantasy role-playing, character development, and tabletop gaming activities.
2. AI Content Disclaimer
CRITICAL UNDERSTANDING: TavernKeep uses artificial intelligence to generate NPC (Non-Player Character) responses and content. You acknowledge and agree that:
- We are NOT responsible for any content generated by AI systems, including inappropriate, offensive, unexpected, or inaccurate responses
- AI responses are generated based on algorithms and training data, not human judgment
- Content may occasionally be unsuitable, factually incorrect, or misaligned with your expectations
- You use AI-generated content at your own risk and discretion
- AI systems may produce content that appears factual but is actually fictional or incorrect
3. Acceptable Use Policy
Permitted Uses:
- Tabletop RPG sessions
- Character development and fantasy storytelling
- Educational content related to tabletop gaming
- Entertainment purposes within the fantasy gaming context
Prohibited Activities:
- Generating inappropriate, sexual, explicit, or adult content
- Creating harmful, offensive, discriminatory, or hateful content
- Using the service for illegal activities or content
- Harassment, bullying, or threatening behavior toward other users
- Commercial use outside of legitimate tabletop session facilitation
- Attempting to hack, break, or misuse the service
- Using the service for non-role-playing game purposes or general AI chat
4. Subscription & Billing Terms
Payment: Subscription fees are charged monthly or annually as selected during signup. All charges are processed securely through Stripe.
Refunds: All payments are final and non-refundable except as required by applicable law. No pro-rated refunds for partial months.
Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings. Service continues until the end of your current billing period.
Price Changes: We reserve the right to modify subscription pricing with 30 days advance notice to active subscribers.
Auto-Renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled before the renewal date.
5. Limitation of Liability
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK: TavernKeep is provided "AS IS" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all liability for:
- Any damages, losses, or harm resulting from use of the service
- AI-generated content, responses, or suggestions
- Service interruptions, downtime, or data loss
- Decisions made based on AI responses or content
- Third-party integrations or external services
- User-generated content or interactions between users
Maximum Liability: Our total liability to you for any claims shall not exceed the amount you paid for the service in the 12 months preceding the claim.
6. Data Privacy & Usage
Data Collection: We collect and store conversation data, character information, and usage statistics to provide and improve our service.
Data Sharing: We do not sell personal data. We may share data with service providers (hosting, payment processing) necessary for operation.
Data Retention: Conversation data is retained to maintain NPC memory. You may request data export or account deletion.
AI Training: Conversations may be used to improve AI responses, but personal information is not included in training data.
7. Account Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts for:
- Violation of these terms of service
- Illegal activity or harmful behavior
- Misuse of the service outside intended tabletop role-playing purposes
- Non-payment of subscription fees
- Attempts to circumvent usage limits or security measures
8. Intellectual Property
You retain ownership of your original content (character descriptions, campaign notes). TavernKeep retains rights to the service software and AI systems. You grant us a license to use your content solely to provide the service.
9. Changes to Terms
We may update these terms periodically. Significant changes will be communicated via email or service notification. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
